These New Cars Are Ready to Launch in 2020

The new year 2020 brings new hope for the Indonesian automotive industry to continue to make the market remain vibrant. Of course, new cars are also ready to shake up the local market, which is the mainstay of every manufacturer of excellence.

A number of interesting models have indicated its presence in the country, in order to steal the interest of consumers. Among these new cars, MPV and SUV types still dominate, which of course follows the tastes and interests of the market in Indonesia itself.

In fact, not only from the old player brands, reportedly the new manufacturer will also come to Indonesia, bringing its flagship model in the SUV segment. What are these cars?

Mazda CX-30

The line up of SUV / crossover models from Mazda in Indonesia will have more choices, with news of the coming of the Mazda CX-30. This is one of the latest models that Mazda first exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show 2019 ago.

The seventh-generation vehicle platform, which was first introduced through the latest Mazda3 last year, is the basis of the CX-30. This means that the premium quality of driving and comfort of the Mazda3 can also be felt on the CX-30.

Likely, Mazda will offer the same drivetrain on the CX-30, with a 2.0 liter SkyActiv-G engine and a 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission, such as from the Mazda3. When exactly the CX-30 will launch in Indonesia, we'll wait.

Suzuki Ertiga XL7

The MPV trend with a touch of SUV will also be followed by Suzuki, following its predecessors the Honda BR-V and Mitsubishi Xpander Cross. Suzuki will bring Ertiga XL7 to the Indonesian market against these two models.

This model was first launched in India, with the name Suzuki XL6, which changed the appearance of the Ertiga more manly like an SUV. However, leaked information obtained by Carvaganza said it would use the name XL7 in Indonesia, like one of the earlier Escudo variants.

The name XL7 was chosen more because it refers to the Ertiga cabin capacity, which for the Indonesian market reportedly will be able to be filled by seven people. While XL6 in India, only has a capacity of six people.

MG ZS

One brand new manufacturer that is widely rumored to be present in Indonesia this year is MG Motor, a British brand now owned by SAIC Motor. That is, MG is still related to Wuling Motors from China, which has successfully kicked off the Indonesian market in the last three years.

For its debut in Indonesia, MG will offer an SUV product, but not the same Hector model based on Wuling Almaz. MG will instead introduce itself to rely on the ZS, a sub-compact five-passenger SUV.

The car that is quite popular in India has a thick modern design with a distinctive European character, which at first glance looks similar to the Mazda design. If adhering to the Indian market, MG ZS has a 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder and 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine variants.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Facelift

Mitsubishi made a refresher for the Pajero Sport in mid-2019, which included various updates on its appearance. However, the Pajero Sport facelift version is only available for the Thai market.

There are indications that the Pajero Sport facelift will come to Indonesia this year, after Mitsubishi officially denied the launch for 2019. The exterior appearance of the front, side, rear and interior differed significantly.

The latest Dynamic Shield design language is increasingly emphasized in the Pajero Sport's exterior refresh, making it more uniform with other new Mitsubishi models. With this new version, Pajero Sport certainly gets new energy to compete with the Toyota Fortuner and Nissan Terra.
